Description

Marked with the lotus flower seal, a symbol of Vietnamese identity, this 2017 dark Sheng (raw) tea is produced by the Dzao ethnic group in Northern Vietnam within the Cao Bo cooperative. It is an imperial plucking (one leaf, 1 bud) from ancient tea bushes, processed by hand.

We find the light acidity typical of Sheng, a slight minerality, but already beautiful animal notes of leather and a beautiful patina. As the infusions progress, the notes evolve, with nutty flavors gradually emerging. Pleasantly long on the palate, it holds up well to multiple infusions. A very gentle, accessible introduction to Sheng teas.
