Description

Origin: Yingshan Mountains (“Shadow Mountains”), Qiannan (Guizhou province, China)

Altitude: between 1,200 and 1,600 m.

Terroir : Guizhou is a sloping region of breathtaking scenery. Isolated in the heart of the mountainous South-West, it's the new Eldorado of tea. Located not far from the birthplace of Camellia Sinensis and its cultivation, Guizhou has been involved in tea growing for centuries. But in recent decades, the tea plant has replaced rice almost everywhere on the terraces carved into the hillsides. As a result, the province now ranks first in China for its tea-growing area. In addition to some regional teas, Guizhou is now home to some of China's most famous green teas. Ambient humidity and diffused light guarantee tender leaves, an essential quality in the production of this grand cru.

Species: Camelia sinensis sinensis

Cultivar: Fuyun n°6

Harvest: Spring 2025, pre-Qingming (March)

Leaf shape: Hook-shaped

History: A Grand Cru harvested in Guizhou province, this is a green tea with hook-shaped leaves, rich in buds and famous since the Ming period. Picked at the beginning of March in a pollution-free environment, this is a remarkable tea, the 1st of the year.

Its harvest is called “Pre-Qingming”, meaning that it was picked before the “Festival of Pure Light”, a key date in China that marks the start of the spring harvest. Teas harvested before this date are considered to be the most highly prized and reputed, due to the youthfulness of their shoots and the precision required to pick them.

Aromatic profile: A sweet, fresh tea that develops a silky, vegetal liqueur reminiscent of cooked vegetables (steamed zucchini, artichoke, edamame bean) and fresh peas. Its delicacy, smooth, powdery texture and powerful length make it the perfect tea for a gentle start to the day.
- Texture: full and powdery
- Taste: sweet
- Notes: raw vegetable (fresh pea), mineral, cooked vegetable (steamed zucchini, artichoke, edamame bean), floral, intense length.

Our preparation advice: Prefer very soft spring water for this tea (less than 50mg/L dry residue).
